For many years in the 1950's and 1960's there was an old (Mathis?) Trumpy houseboat yacht sitting on land near the East approach of the U.S. Hwy 90 Bay St. Louis Bridge in Pass Christian , Mississippi. In those days it served as a sales office for the Pass Christian Isles real estate development. I believe it originally belonged to a New Orleans oil tycoon named William Hellis, but it's only a guess. I'd like to know the history of this large yacht and confirm or disprove the guess above. Unfortunately it was destroyed by Hurricane Camille in 1969 when the area saw a 22 foot storm surge. The very rare and expensive Trumpy book may have a clue, but I've yet to find a copy to consult.

Okay,
I finally located pictures of this 85 foot yacht. The general configuration and Pullman windows certainly make it look like a Trumpy design - probably very early. I'd like to post the pictures , but what a pain! Anybody interested can e-mail me directly , and I'll send em.
