My grandfather owned a 60' Trumpy/Mathis named Domino. When he passed away in the mid 1950's we lost track of her. There have been a number of stories about her, from being somewhere on the Great Lakes to where she might have met her demise (sank)...to being in Florida at one time, renamed the Vizcaya and sold to some drug dealers out of New Orleans. I have been compiling a family history and included the many boats that both my grandfather and my great-grandfather have owned over the years. Can anyone shed some light on the Domino/Vizcaya?

Contract #115 built in 1921 Doc# 220393 as "Nahmeoka" for H.N. Baruch. Subsequent names were: "Arline", "Anado", "Domino II" and "Vizcaya". She is no longer in the Coast Guard records and is likely gone.

I purchased the 85' Trumpy "Nahmeoka" on January 10, 1990 with my business partner John Cooney of Coconut Grove, Florida. It had been partially submerged in Indian Creek on Miami Beach in front of the Carriage Club Condominiums. The owners of the condominium agreed to raise the boat and we agreed to take it to a dock we controlled not far away on Indian Creek. The sellers defaulted and the boat was clamshelled in February 1990. I have photographs as well as an extensive history that I researched in an effort to save the boat. It was built by John Trumpy in the Mathis Boatyard in Camden, NJ. The official US Coast Guard Number for the boat was 220886. It was first documented at Baltimore, MD by P.Y.E. No. 5 dated September 13, 1923 by William Keyser, Jr.
The chartering of this boat by President Warren G. Harding is documented on page 535 of the book "The Shadow of Blooming Grove" By Francis Russell.
It is important to note that there were two "Nahmeoka" houseboats built for H.N. Baruch by Trumpy. The first was a 100' houseboat built in 1910 which was based on Shrewsbury RIver in Long Brach, NJ. You reference your grandfather's boat as being a 60' boat. Neither of these boats was 60'. The first was 100' and the second was 85'. Prior names included Tred-Avon and Beluga (last name before demolition).
I have no way to post photgraphs of the boat or the essay that was written to commemorate its demise in 1990 on this site, but I would be happy to post them wherever you would like. if you could give me some direction as to where you would like them to be posted.

I believe that there is some confusion over the fact that Trumpy built two houseboats for Hartwig Nathaniel Baruch (aka Nathaniel Hartwig). The first was a 100' houseboat built in 1910. The other was the 85' houseboat built in 1921. Both boats were named "Nahmeoka". The latter carried the official USCG number 220886.
Evidence of the older 1910 boat can be found in a 1913 City of Long Branch, NJ public relations brochure that clearly depicts "Baruch's "Nahmeoka" on the Shrewsbury".
