Does anyone have any information on a 1936 Trumpy built for the Bowman family in San Diego? The name of the boat would be the "Black Tie". I was also told it was used by the US Navy as a mine sweeper in the early 40's under the name "Jodara".

Trumpy did not build boats in San Diego. I think I know the boat, it was on Ebay and it was billed as "Trumpy Design" meaning knockoff, if it's the boat I'm thinking of. Sorry. Look on Ebay for Trumpy and Black Tie and it might still be on the site.

Is this is the same "Black Tie" that was used for a few years as a bed and breakfast and caloosahatchee river tour boat out of Ft. Myers? If so it definitely is not a Trumpy, a great looking old yacht, but not a Trumpy. I know she had a plaque noting her year and builder, I want to remember it was New York Yacht, but it's been a few years (2003/04 I last saw her) and I could be mistaken on that.

Yes, same boat. Was doing charters out of Ft Myers. Saw her on ebay some time back. She is not a Trumpy. Still a handsome old boat.
