My name is Chris Phinney;
I am working under a permit from the Ministry of Culture in Ontario Canada on an archaeological survey of a shipwreck in Lake Ontario.
We have tentatively identified this wreck as Trumpy yacht "Southern Trail" aka "South Trail", aka "Trail".
I have scoured the internet and used most of the resources I have at my disposal. To date we have Jerry Foster for the 1 picture of Trail from Wooden Boat magazine and help with the identification through his registry of owners etc.
I am posting in this forum to ask if anyone has any information on this yacht that might inclued owners, sightings in the past, pictures, plans etc.
We are in the final stages of positively identifying this wreck and need any additional info we can get.
I will try and post some pictures of details etc to people to look at.
Thanks
Chris

Thanks for the tip. I have looked at ebay before. Glad that I caught that one. Bought the add as it will go great with our survey report.

If my memory sereve me the Southern Trail was once owned by the Castro family of Castro Convertibles (furniture) and was based in Daytona Beach Florida. The last time I saw the yacht was at the Eau Gallie Yacht basin in Melbourne Florida around 1988 or 89. She was well used and I believe was for sale at the time. I have many photos of the some of the yachts crusing through Melbourne and may possible have one of the Trail. I will search and if I find one will post it. Dan LaDuke

Did a google search and came up with probably one of Southern Trail's last captains, here is his website. scottcparker.com/capt.html
