My husband, Captain Daniel T. Gilman III, and I owned two Trumpy Yachts at the same time. They were the 71 Trumpy Capricorn Lady, and the 55' Trumpy Capricorn Mistress. We ran these Trumpy's to the Caribbean on their own bottoms, and operated them in the crewed charter industry from a base in the BVI. I don't believe any other Trumpys have ever been used in this way, as we hosted people from around the world for one week vacations. I lived aboard Capricorn Lady for almost 20 years, and have written two books about my life living and working aboard. The books are Voyage Of The Capricorn lady, Books 1 and 2, by Judith Bauer Gilman. You can see them on Amazon.com and also on my websites at www.captainsladystore.com, and www.voyageofthecapricornlady.com. Capricorn Lady is now the yacht Silver Swan but I don't know the present name of Capricorn Mistress. If I can figure out how to post a photo on this board, I would like to show you Capricorn Lady, hauled out at Wickham's Cay in about 1982. It was quite an experience hauling out on that old railway, and I describe in my second book, how The Lady got stuck on the rail one time for several days, with only her stern in the water. Another time, the yacht was all the way up on the rail, with workers underneath cleaning the bottom, when she suddenly leaned to starboard, almost falling on her side. The vessel had to be jacked up while the haulout was done quickly. I love Trumpys, and my books tell about my with long love affair with these beautiful wooden boats and my Captain who has passed on.
