Would it be bad form to call a yacht that was built by the Mathis Co. a Trumpy?
I am asking because I am doing a report for the ministry of culture on a shipwreck that was designed by Trumpy but built before they were officially called Trumpy's (I think). I was going to use the T logo and make some other references to it being a Trumpy.
When did they start using those fancy Ts
What do you think?

Mathis and Trumpy are the same company. The name was changed when the yard moved from Camden NJ to Gloucester City NJ in 1942. There was no change in the ownership of the company, simply a new name. A boat built under the Mathis name can be a Mathis, a Mathis/Trumpy, a Trumpy/Mathis or a Trumpy, they are all the same. The T scroll came into use after WW11. JHT

Were they supposed to be silver or gold?

No one knows if the Trumpy T was silver or gold? That is surprising, but also means there is no way left to determine if any aspect of a Trumpy is originally correct or a modification other than maybe to evaluate the era of the design or material used.

Never seen a "silver" T scroll on any Trumpy during my the past 10 years on the water almost daily. This probably does not help.
